COVER-UP PLANNING

Cover-Ups Planned Around the Tattoo That Is Already There

Feasibility depends on the existing tattoo's darkness, size, colour, placement, scar tissue where relevant, and the desired new concept.

The Ink Me Standard for Cover-Ups & Reworks

A cover-up is designed from the existing tattoo outward. Clear photos are reviewed to understand its darkest areas, line density, colour, size, placement, and any visible scar tissue. The proposed concept may need a different scale, orientation, or value structure, and some tattoos may not be suitable for direct coverage without other preparation.

Existing Ink Assessment

Darkness, line density, colour, age, and current visibility determine how much flexibility the new design has.

Scale & Composition

The replacement concept often needs more space so darker areas can be incorporated without making the result unreadable.

Skin & Placement Review

Placement, movement, available surrounding space, and scar tissue where relevant are reviewed before feasibility is discussed.

Realistic Options

The consultation explains what can be reworked directly, what may remain visible, and when another approach should be considered.

A broader canvas can provide more options for scale, background, and focal placement.
